the day after Christmas

Daddy and I spent gift certificates yesterday. He got polar tec thermals at Cabelas and we got a high tech humidifier at Bed Bath and Beyond. So we/he should be warm and moist.

But our big event of the day was a dinner party. Steven had invited friends and planned to cook a special dinner, but was flexible and generous enough to let it turn into a family plus friends party with fourteen instead of four. Smiths arrived from Albuquerque and Becca and Simon joined us for a spaghetti dinner with munster cheese, jello and green salads, hot rolls, pickles, olives, and candy for dessert.

It was so good to see Laura and Randy and their family. They had stopped in Salt Lake on their way to Logan to meet their new dog, a springer spaniel they will take home with them. The first three days of their vacation will be in Logan and we will get them back Tuesday night or Wednesday morning until Saturday morning. Becca and Simon are leaving for Disneyland on Tuesday, so we were very glad to have our one hour "complete" family gathering.

I will be taking down Christmas by Tuesday to get the boxes out of the basement which is way okay since the Smith family saw our holiday decorating effort yesterday. We will have to figure out a special way to celebrate New Years Eve. I hear Laura makes pies.

Daddy Ken stayed up last night to write his talk for sacrament meeting this morning. We are hoping for a good Skype day afer the day after Christmas. This is the last Sunday of 11 to 2 meetings. Next year we have 1 to 4. Family dinners will continue at 5:00. Happy preparations for the new year to you all.
